At the time of “Diamonds are Forever” – there was Hotel Dunes which served as the office of Whyte House casino manager Bert Saxby (Bruce Cabot) in the film. The Dunes sign can be seen in the film. The shot of the “Dome of the Sea” restaurant didn’t make it to the final film but can be found in the deleted scenes section of the DVD / BluRay, so the place is, in a way, the location of the film.
The Dunes Hotel & Country Club opened in 1955 and closed on January 23, 1993. Its north tower was blown up on October 27, 1993 and the south tower on July 20, 1994.
The Bellagio hotel opened on the same site in 1998. We checked in and appropriately got room number 28 007 on the top floor of our wing 🙂

We headed to explore the hotel’s large pool section where it was good to take a dip after a hot day.
We also visited the wonderful garden in the lobby and of course the hotel’s casino where we found the “Thunderball” game 🙂
At dusk, we checked out the famous Bellagio fountains and walked a bit around the hotel before going to bed.
