In Memoriam: Underwater sequence specialist Ricou Browning

Ricou Browning has died at the age of 93. He was born in Fort Pierce, Florida, USA on 16th of February 1930 and died in Southwest Ranches on 27th of February 2023. Sending healing prayers and comfort during this tough time to his family and friends.

Browning was credited as Underwater director: Underwater sequences / Second unit director: underwater sequences (uncredited) in “Thunderball” (1965) and Underwater sequence director in “Never Say Never Again” (1983).

He is best known for his underwater stunt work, especially in the 1954 film “Creature from the Black Lagoon“, in which he portrayed the titular Gill-man during the film’s underwater scenes (actor Ben Chapman played the Creature on land)
