Timothy Dalton is celebrating his 76th birthday.

Dalton was born in Colwyn Bay, Wales, to an English father, Peter Dalton Leggett, who was a captain in the Special Operations Executive during the Second World War and was an advertising executive at the time of his son’s birth; and an American mother, Dorothy Scholes, of Italian and Irish descent. Before Timothy’s fourth birthday, the family moved back to England to Belper in Derbyshire. While in Belper, he attended the Herbert Strutt Grammar School. As a teenager, he was a member of the Air Training Corps at LXX (Croft & Culcheth) Squadron. (Wikipedia).

Timothy Dalton appeared twice as James Bond, agent 007, first in “The Living Daylights” (1987) and then in “Licence to Kill” (1989).

At a consistently lean 6′ 2″, green-eyed Timothy Dalton may very well be one of the last of the dying breed of swashbuckling, classically trained Shakespearean actors who have forged simultaneous successful careers in theater, television and film. He has been comparison-shopped roundly for stepping into roles played by other actors, first following Sir Laurence Olivier in “The Wuthering Heights” (1970), in “Scarlett” (1994).
