February 18, 2025Food: A light supper with vodka and caviar
Bond book appearance: With a Mind to Kill (2022). Bond eats this kind of supper prepared by Katya Leonova in Moscow, The Soviet Union
Experience of 007 Travelers: Self-made

“Katya was horrified by Bond’s injury. The knife wound wasn’t deep but in the twenty-minute car journey from Komsomolskaya the blood had seeped through his shirt sleeve, and by the time he arrived in her arms he looked like a casualty of war. The driver had not taken him to the Hotel National but to the edge of Moscow, back to Serebryany Bor, not far from where he and Katya had walked just two days before. It was Katya’s surprise for their last night in the city. She had prepared a light supper with vodka and more caviar, even though it was two o’clock in the morning. There was a fire burning in the brick stove, casting a glow across the room and fighting off the chill of the post-midnight hours. The dacha was traditional, fashioned out of wooden boards and almost a perfect triangle in shape, dominated by a roof that slanted down on both sides. It was tucked away in the pine trees, reached by a rough track with no signposts. Add a covering of snow and it would have reminded Bond of the chalets he had stayed in at as a child at Chamonix… not that that place had many happy memories for him. It was where his parents had died.”
