“Nestled in South Beach’s celebrated Art Deco neighborhood, our Miami Beach oceanfront hotel evokes cinematic elegance, boasting 116 newly designed city and direct ocean view guest rooms in our Historic Tower and 36 luxurious cabanas and suites, skirted alongside native tropical palm trees and Miami Beaches longest infinity-edge pool.

Consistently rated among one of the best South Beach Miami hotels, The National is a 4 star hotel in Miami Beach, ideally located directly on the beach and 1 block east of Lincoln Road, 2 blocks north of Ocean Drive and respectively 10 and 15 minutes away from Downtown Miami and Miami International Airport.” (National Hotel)

007 Travelers visited this lovely hotel while searching 007 locations in Florida. James Bond visited here in Kate Westbrook‘s novel “The Monepenny Diaries: Guardian Angel” (2005), which focuses on Miss Moneypenny‘s, (the secretary of Bond’s boss M) adventures.

“Miami is similarly informal. It’s easy to forget that people actually work here. We’re staying at a grand hotel called the National on South Beach. The lobby has a marble floor and mosaic ceiling. You walk straight through the bar to glass doors opening on to the garden, which in turn backs to the beach. I love palm-trees, their trunks so straight, their fronds so animated. I think M was rather shocked by its glamour when we arrived; it had been recommended to us by the Ambassador as his favourite in the city.”

“He came into my room on our first evening, while I was writing, and it was only sleight of hand that prevented him from catching me in the act. He was in better spirits and whisked me off to a wonderful restaurant called Joe’s Stone Crab*

(* A South Beach landmark, first established in 1913, and as popular today. Appeared in Fleming‘s Goldfinger, loosely disguised, as “Bill’s on the Beach”)

on Southern Point, just across the road from the small park where I waited for his boat not to arrive. I showed him the jetty. “I was so worried about you”, I told him. “I thought your ship was never going to come in.” Well, it has now, my Penny”, he replied.”
