007 Travelers review: James Bond: SPECTRUM of Film Interpretations by Michal Talarek

Here is a truly fantastic and comprehensive information package for James Bond fans!

In this massive book (655 pages), Michal Talarek explores the history of the Bond films from so many angles that it would daunt even the most die-hard Bond fan 🙂 Just kidding, this is a new “Bible” for all Bond fans!

Michal writes about the subject so enthusiastically that, even if you are familiar with the background of every film, he brilliantly manages to introduce new perspectives and insights. It is also fascinating to read how Michal became a Bond fan living in Poland behind the iron curtain back in the 1980s.

For Bond fans, the book is a fantastic read; We are not sure, however, how well those less enthusiastic about the subject would manage to read through every page… 🙂

Our minds tended to wander a bit during the sections discussing movies and things that copy Bond—though we have to admit, that perspective is very interesting, too. But if anything should have been left on the cutting room floor, perhaps it would have been this part 🙂

Wonderfully named chapters, like: “Bond Girls: Good, Bad, but Always Beautiful” and “The Formula That Never Dies” 🙂 , appendices include facts and important numbers from all Bond films. Overall, a magnificent work written with love, in which Michal’s love for James Bond shines through.

We can definitely recommend this book to all Bond fans. Overall rating: 4/5 – the only thing keeping it from a perfect score is the slightly high page count 🙂
