In Memoriam: Tina Turner (1939-2023). Simply the Best.

Tina Turner (originally Anna Mae Bullock, officially Tina Turner-Bullock), born on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee, USA, has died on May 24, 2023 in Küsnacht, Switzerland. She was an American-born rock singer and was known for his powerful soul voice and energetic stage performances. Turner has received ten Grammy Awards. She has been called the “Queen of Rock and Roll”.

Bond World knows her of course by her song “GoldenEye” which was written by Bono and The Edge of Irish rock band U2 and was the title song in a Pierce Brosnan‘s first 007 film in 1995.

Many also remember Turner from the movie “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome” (1985), where she played Aunty Entity and performed the film’s theme song “We Don’t Need Another Hero“.

In 1993, “What’s Love Got to Do with It“, a biographical film adapted from her autobiography “I, Tina: My Life Story“, was released.

On May 24, 2023, Turner died at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland, aged 83.
