Nowadays Circus Circus Las Vegas is a hotel and casino located on the northern Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Phil Ruffin. Circus Circus includes the largest permanent circus in the world. It features circus and trapeze acts, as well as carnival games, at its Carnival Midway. The resort also includes the Adventuredome, an indoor amusement park. (Wikipedia)
On the famous “Carnival Midway” section, the scenes were filmed for “Diamonds Are Forever“, in which Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) ‘wins’ the diamond-stuffed elephant at the water balloons, while being observed by both Bond (Sean Connery) and Felix Leiter (Norman Burton) as well as the diamond smugglers.
“The Water Balloon Race” game from the movie “Diamonds Are Forever” cannot be found in Circus Circus anymore, but “Water Race” game has exactly the same idea. “The Water Balloon Race” was a game of skill, the objective of the game was to direct a stream of water from a water pistol into the mouth of one of several plastic clown heads, filling its adjacent balloon until it pops.
