Mr. Robert Davi was in great shape and performed wonderfully bringing the heart and soul of Frank Sinatra to the stage of The Finlandia Hall.

Robert has real charisma and a very powerful voice. He is also capable of singing romantic songs, which gives you goosebumps. The theme of the night was romance. And that’s exactly that the audience got.

During the evening we had an opportunity to hear such classics as “Strangers in the Night”, “Volare” and “My Way” as well as some not so familiar songs to Finnish audience. Davi also mentioned that he now has a new wife from Estonia, and they have a seven month old baby together.

There was at least one very special man for Robert Davi in the audience, a Finnish film director, Mika Kaurismäki, who directed the movie “Amazon” in 1990, where Davi had a starring role alongside Finnish actor Kari Väänänen.

Davi told us wonderful stories about what happened behind the scenes of “Amazon“, like how he woke up at 3 AM on one night and heard Finnish swearwords “Perkele, saatana” repeated several times in the middle of the jungle. Later on he realised that it was the sound man Jouko Lumme shouting, because he was a little bit drunk and was lost in the jungle. In reality he was quite close to others and was found soon.

Before “Amazon” Davi had made great appearances in films such as “City Heat” (1984) with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds, “The Goonies” (1985), “Raw Deal” (1986) with Arnold Schwarzenegger, “Die Hard” (1988) with Bruce Willis and of course “Licence to Kill” (1989) with Timothy Dalton where Davi was a main villain, drug lord Franz Sanchez.

Later he has appeared in movies like “Predator 2” (1990), “Son of the Pink Panther” (1993) and “The Expendables 3” (2013).

We were greatly honoured to meet Mr. Robert Davi backstage after his wonderful concert “Davi sings Sinatra – on the Road to Romance” at The Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, Finland. Also, Mertsi from James Bond Club Finland, was there with us, and kindly took these backstage photos of us with Pirita’s phone.
